Greetings family,
I’ve often heard people say that happiness is a choice—that no matter what’s happening around you, you can choose to be happy. And for a long time, I struggled to believe that.
Sometimes I would find myself thinking that I was missing something—that happiness was waiting on the other side of a certain achievement. Maybe when I got to a certain level, or earned a certain amount of money, then I would finally feel happy.
But I’ve come to realize that this way of thinking is flawed. It keeps the focus on what I lack, while overlooking everything I already have. And over time, that mindset quietly leads to a sense of ungratefulness.
So lately I’ve been more intentional with my thoughts. I’ve made a conscious effort to shift my focus from what I don’t have to what I do. And just by doing that, I’ve discovered a deeper sense of gratitude for the things in my life that I once overlooked or took for granted.
And from that overflow of gratitude, something amazing happened. I quickly realized that I already have more than enough to be happy. Nothing essential is missing.
So if you ask me now—Yes, I do believe happiness can be a choice.
But the real question is, Are you choosing it?
Once again I am grateful to have you here on this journey with me.
We’ll talk again soon.
Much love,
Cedric Turakira
