Greetings family,
I’ve got a question for you: do you ever find yourself time travelling?
Not like in the movies — I mean dwelling on the past or living in the future. That’s something I honestly find myself doing more often than not. And yes, while it may have its benefits, it also has a lot more downsides, and I’ve been experiencing those lately.
This past week especially, I haven’t been in the best of moods. My energy has been low and my overall motivation just hasn’t been there. While I was doing some self-analysis, I realized that I’d been frustrating myself with past regrets that I can’t change and living in a future that doesn’t even exist yet (time travelling).
And then it hit me — that’s the reason why I’ve been feeling so off.
The worst part about “time travelling” is that you neglect the present moment. Because you’re so focused on the past and the future, you end up overlooking the countless blessings the present moment has to offer.
And the Bible even warns us about this exact thing:
“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.””
You see my friend, tomorrow isn’t promised, and the past can’t be changed. So it’s pointless to dwell on them.
The best thing we can do is be present. Be where our feet are.
Once again I am grateful to have you here on this journey with me.
We’ll talk again soon.
Much love,
Cedric Turakira
